COGHEP is committed to advancing environmental sustainability as a cornerstone of community resilience and socio-economic transformation. Recognizing the urgent threat of climate change and its adverse effects, our interventions focus on protecting ecosystems while improving community livelihoods.

COGHEP keen on protecting the water resources and restoring the water towers in Taita Taveta county to protect the eco systems especially in ensuring adequate water resources in Tsavo East and Tsavo west National parks.

 

Our Approach

Planting trees and restoring degraded landscapes to combat desertification, enhance biodiversity, and improve soil fertility.

Protecting and expanding mangrove forests along Kenya’s coastal strip to safeguard marine ecosystems, mitigate coastal erosion, and strengthen community adaptation to climate impacts.

Supporting sustainable use of coastal and marine resources, including fishing, aquaculture, and eco-tourism, to create green jobs while protecting ocean ecosystems.

 Engaging communities in environmental education, tree planting, and sustainable land use to restore one of Kenya’s key water towers, ensuring water security for both people and ecosystems.

  •  P Piloting “climate-smart households” that showcase affordable and practical solutions such as use of clean energy (solar and biogas), water harvesting, organic farming, and sustainable waste management. These households serve as learning sites for communities, demonstrating how families can reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing food security and income.
  •       Promoting the adoption of solar, biogas, and other renewable energy technologies to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

    •  Convening communities, policymakers, researchers, and private sector actors to build coalitions that advocate for climate justice, climate financing, and policy reforms. COGHEP raises awareness on climate effects while mobilizing collective action to reverse them through campaigns, dialogues, and evidence-based advocacy.
