Our commitment to gender equity is built on the fundamental principles of non-discrimination and inclusion. We believe everyone, regardless of their background or identity, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Unfair exclusion from essential services and community life is a significant concern that we actively work to address.
A key part of our strategy involves sensitizing health workers to ensure fair clinical practices and respectful treatment for all individuals. By promoting a more compassionate and equitable healthcare system, we help break down barriers and ensure everyone can access the care they need without fear of judgment.
We also focus on community empowerment by helping diverse groups find their voice. Our initiatives build the capacity of marginalized communities to advocate for themselves, ensuring their concerns are heard and their rights are protected. This work is vital for achieving fair representation and access to respectful care and treatment for all members of society.
Furthermore, we are dedicated to building the resiliency of vulnerable populations. We implement interventions that help these groups defend their position in society and navigate challenging times, such as the adverse effects of global crises. Our goal is to create a more just and inclusive world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
MODELS OF ENGAGEMENT
COGHEP supports the development and implementation of gender-transformative initiatives. This happens at policy level where the program focuses Advocacy based on evidence on violation of basic rights and at service delivery level where COGHEP Pursues the implementation of programs for fair support and access to equal opportunity for girls and boys, men and women focusing on the balance of power; availability of resources and in pursuit of human rights.
We collaborate with like-minded partners to advocate for the rights and inclusion of disadvantaged groups including: women, men, boys and girls into community activities like political participation, health talks, civic responsibilities and economic initiatives for the access to social accountability.
We have implemented campaigns against (GBV) gender-based violence directed particularly to vulnerable young women. We also train youth to defend themselves against GBV perpetrators and how they should go about reporting of GBV cases.COGHEP has achieved this through working with state and non-state actors to ensure proper case management and follow up of the victims of GBV.
