At COGHEP, we believe that good health is the foundation of a thriving community. Beyond our core programs, we are deeply committed to promoting wellness and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.
Our health and wellness initiatives focus on creating awareness, providing access to vital services, and nurturing healthier lifestyles within the communities we serve. From community health forums and preventive health campaigns, to nutrition education and psychosocial support, we work hand-in-hand with local partners to ensure that wellness is not just an idea but a lived reality.
We recognize that true well-being goes beyond physical health. It includes mental, emotional, and social wellness. That is why COGHEP integrates holistic approaches, offering safe spaces for dialogue, training for caregivers, and mentorship programs that strengthen resilience and promote positive living.
COGHEP promotes preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles by educating communities on:
COGHEP focuses on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, educating communities on safe drinking water access through various purification methods. This includes community-based social marketing to promote water treatment availability, and partnering with low-end private sector players in hard-to-reach areas. Methods like water filtration, boiling, spring protection, and context-specific approaches are employed.
To ensure gender equality, the organization has a dual focus: menstrual hygiene for girls and young women and personal hygiene for boys and men. Collaborating with the Ministry of Education, they've initiated school health clubs promoting holistic preventive and promotive health approaches. Additionally, the organization educates communities on sustainable waste disposal and encourages waste conversion into income-generating opportunities for youth.
Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (RMNCH) is a cornerstone of public health, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) where the burden of preventable deaths and illnesses remains disproportionately high. Our goal is:
We run a campaign of “No woman should die while giving life and no child should die because of common ailments.” This campaign we capitalize on the 5 sub-areas of safe motherhood as explained by COGHEP. Planned pregnancy, safe pregnancy, skilled-delivery, postnatal and neonatal/child-care and then voluntary contraception.
Our campaign, "No Woman Should Die While Giving Life," focuses on:
By serving the community with compassion and dedication, COGHEP continues to play a vital role in bridging health gaps and fostering a future where every individual has the opportunity to live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their own body and future. COGHEP’s SRHR programs focus on education, advocacy, and access to services that help prevent early pregnancies, reduce HIV and other infections, and protect against gender-based violence. By equipping young people with accurate information and promoting gender equality, we enable them to make healthy, empowered choices about their lives.
Mental well-being is the foundation of a productive and fulfilling life. Yet, stigma and limited access to care continue to prevent many from seeking support. COGHEP works to break this silence by creating safe spaces for dialogue, raising awareness, and providing counseling and psycho-social support. We encourage communities to view mental health care as essential and to nurture supportive environments where individuals can seek help without fear of judgment.
In a rapidly changing world, life skills are essential for resilience and growth. Through training and mentorship, COGHEP equips individuals with skills such as critical thinking, decision-making, effective communication, and conflict resolution. These skills not only strengthen personal development but also prepare young people to contribute positively to their families and communities.
